29th January 2019, Skopje – The press release at the occasion of concluding the regular annual consultations with Macedonia within the so-called Article 4, IMF Executive Board welcomed the revival of the reforms following the restoration of political stability. According to the Executive Board, this resulted in renewed confidence and a pickup in economic activity. With the prospect of opening accession negotiations with the European Union, The Executive Board underlined the importance of pursuing an ambitious structural reform agenda to lift productivity growth and accelerate income convergence, while also rebuilding fiscal policy space and external buffers.
