1st September 2017, Skopje – Comprehensive and consistent Public Finance Management Reform Program has been prepared for the first time in the Republic of Macedonia. Preparation of the 2018-2021 Programme is one step further in improving the public finance management, being one of the most significant priorities of the Government, as well as one of the requirements for the country’s accession to the European Union.
In this respect, the 2018-2021 Public Finance Management Reform Programme is prepared through an intensive cooperation among the relevant national institutions, the EU Delegation’s support and the SIGMA expert assistance. During the drafting of the PFM Reform Programme, recommendations from PEFA, WB PFM Review and SIGMA Baseline Assessment have also been taken into consideration.
This Programme is designed to respond to the key challenges in the field of public finance management, strengthen the public finance system, as well as improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of public spending.
Having in mind the significance of the 2018-2021 Public Finance Management Reform Programme and the need for its high-quality preparation, there is ongoing public consultation with broad involvement of all stakeholders (donors, business community, universities, local authorities, civil society and all other stakeholders actively contributing to the document preparation).
