30th August 2017, Skopje – To the end of greater involvement of the academic public in the preparation of strategic documents, such as the Economic Reform Programme, today, a consultative meeting was organized among Ministers from the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and university professors within the Ministry of Finance.
Despite the Minister of Finance, Dragan Tevdovski, the meeting was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister in Charge of the Economic Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Macedonia Koco Angusev, Minister of Education and Science Renata Treneska Deskovska, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Mila Carovska, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Ljupco Nikolovski, and Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Mancevski. Meeting was also attended by university professors, representatives from “Ss. Cyril and Methodious” University, South East European University “American College” and FON University.
Both sides expressed content, pointing out the need for involving the representatives of academia in the adoption of strategic documents, playing significant role in the Euro-integration process of the country.
On the occasion of the Economic Reform Programme, Ministry of Finance plans to also hold consultations with other target groups that will contribute to its preparation.
In 2015, the European Commission invited the Western Balkan countries to improve their economic policies and economic governance by preparing annual Economic Reform Programmes. 2018- 2020 Economic Reform Programme is the fourth such document, being prepared in line with the European Commission’s instructions. Programme shows the medium-term macroeconomic and fiscal framework, as well as the sectoral structural reforms for promoting both competitiveness and growth.
