30th January 2022, Skopje – On Monday and Tuesday (31st January and 1st February), Ministry of Finance will host the government delegation of the Republic of Bulgaria, headed by the Minister of Innovations and Growth, Daniel Lorer, who, together with the Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, will co-chair the first meeting of the Working Group on Economy, Trade and Innovations.
During the meeting to be held in Skopje, the Working Group will address the possibilities for attracting investments, innovation possibilities, project financing, enhanced trade between the two countries, as well as the priorities related to development of the region, areas in which joint projects can be developed, etc.
Growth Acceleration Plan will be presented at the meeting, focusing on the financial instruments, the strategic programs on innovations, industry policy and competitiveness, including presentations on the work of the Funds for Innovation and Technological Development of both countries, operations of the National Start-Up Council, as well as the working programs and the possibilities offered by the development banks of both countries, the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Agency for Promotion of Entrepreneurship of North Macedonia, along with the rural development programs of Republic of North Macedonia and Republic of Bulgaria.
Intergovernmental Working Group was established last week during the intergovernmental session held in Sofia. During the meeting in Sofia, the Working Group set the priorities as regards the work and the dynamics of holding the meetings and accordingly it will meet once a month. Its activities will be aimed at strengthening and intensifying the economic cooperation in the field of trade, investments, innovations, finances and joint participation in EU programs and Funds, as well as the cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce.
Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic Affairs, Mr. Fatmir Bytyqi, Minister of Economy, Kreshnik Bekteshi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Trajan Dimkovski, as well as Development Bank Director, Kire Naumov, Director of the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development, Festim Halili, and Director of Invest in Macedonia, Bekin Emini, will attend the meeting to be held in Skopje, besides the Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi. The delegation from the Republic of Bulgaria, headed by the Minister of Innovations and Growth, Daniel Lorer, to take part in the meeting includes the Deputy Minister of Finance, Andrei Tsekov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Atanas Dobrev, Director of the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Boyko Takov, Director of the Bulgarian Development Bank Valentin Mihov, as well as other institutions’ representatives.
