14th March 2022, Skopje – Ongoing crisis is immense. Our economy is small, thus having no effects on the global markets, however, we will do our best to contribute to easing the prices on the domestic market. Our country is among the first ones in the region having adopted such set of measures, aimed at protecting the citizens and the companies.
This was pointed by Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi in his interview for “24 Analiza” TV show, thereby stating that the developments are monitored, and that depending on how the situation evolves, new measures might be adopted.
“When it is a matter of such an extensive set of measures, nothing can be changed overnight. We are among the first in the region to adopt such measures. Under the current amendments, a mechanism has been put into place, by which any Government in power, will be able to act promptly in times of crisis, as well as assist the citizens. We do not stop here. This crisis is immense, our economy is small, thus having no effects on the global markers, however, we will do our best to contribute to easing the prices on the domestic market. Therefore, we urge cost-effective and rational use of the energy sources, Besimi pointed out.
He also underlined that the Budget is liquid and the analyses for Supplementary Budget are being carried out, to reflect the needs at this particular moment. He did not say the exact timeframe for the Supplementary Budget submission, thereby stressing the two Supplementary Budgets and the respective reallocation in times of crisis such as the health one.
He emphasized that the recommendation for rational use of the resources will be translated into a Government decision that applies to all.
As regards providing budget funds intended for the measures, he said that there are sufficient funds for some of the measures, while reallocating funds for the remaining ones, adding that according to the 2022 Budget projections, the funds to be borrowed by the state, will amount to EUR 600 million, which could be fully provided on the foreign market depending on the conditions, or a combination of foreign and domestic market is an option as well.
