22nd May 2023, Skopje – Delegation of the Republic of North Macedonia is headed by Deputy Minister of Finance, Filip Nikoloski, who will, starting 24th May 2023, take part at the 65th Plenary Meeting of the Committee of Moneyval, taking place in Strasbourg.
Therein, the draft Report on the Evaluation of the Republic of North Macedonia will be considered, a process launched in December 2021, being completed by adopting the respective Report. On 24th May, Deputy Minister Nikoloski will speak at the 65th Plenary Meeting.
Committee of Moneyval is conducting the 5th Round of Evaluation, pertaining to our country’s system for preventing money laundering and financing of terrorism, thus evaluating the technical compliance with FATF recommendations, i.e. our legal and institutional framework and the efficiency of the system through the implementation of legal competences and achieved results.
Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism is an independent monitoring mechanism of the Council of Europe with 47 Member- States, reporting directly to its main body, that being the Committee of Ministers within the Council of Europe. Monevyal is entrusted with the task of assessing compliance of the Member- States with the principal international standards to counter money laundering and the financing of terrorism and the effectiveness of their implementation, as well as making recommendations to national authorities in respect of necessary improvements to their systems.
Delegation to the Plenary Meeting in Strasbourg consists of representatives from the relevant institutions involved in the process, such as: Financial Intelligence Office, Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption, Ministry of the Internal Affairs, National Bank, Securities and Exchange Commission, Insurance Supervision Agency and Central Registry.
