Delegation from the Ministry of Finance, headed by Minister Trajko Slaveski, will take part in EBRD Annual Meeting on 15 and 16 May 2009 to be held in London.

In the morning, Minister Slaveski gave interview for Bloomberg news agency, talking about the economic trends in the Republic of Macedonia, as well as the measures the Government undertakes to alleviate the negative effects from the global economic crisis.

Minister Slaveski had meetings with HSBC Investment Bank as well. This Bank, being ranked at the highest position among the financial institutions in the world for issuance of bonds by governments on the international market in the past years, as well as in 2009, was selected by the Ministry of Finance as the most favourable one to prepare the process of issuance of the new Eurobond of the Republic of Macedonia.

Overall process of issuance of the Eurobond, as well as the most favourbale moment to perform the issuance, having in mind the market conditions, were discussed during the meeting.

Meeting with Fortis investment house was also held, since this institution was one of the buyers of the Eurobond the Republic of Macedonia issued in 2005. Performances of the country were discussed at the meeting, as well as the option for issuance of new Eurobond.

In the morning, Minister Trajko Slaveski met high officials from Fitch Credit Rating Agency. They discussed the credit rating of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as the general trends affecting the overall business environment in Southeast Europe and the perception the investors get.

In the afternoon, the Minister will participate in the work of the Board of Governors session, discussing the topic “Fighting the crisis, promoting the recovery and deepening the transition”.

Tomorrow, Minister Slaveski is planned to address EBRD Board of Governors, and he will have a meeting with Credit Suisse representatives.

In addition, tomorrow, the Minister will meet EBRD President, Mr. Thomas Mirow, Governor of the Council of Europe development Bank, Mr. Raphaël Alomar, and the Vice President of European Investment Bank, Mr. Dario Scannapieco.

During EBRD Annual meeting, Minister Slaveski, together with CEO Invest Macedonia – Agency for Foreign Investments of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Viktor Mizo, will present the Republic of Macedonia to many interested investors and international financial institutions.
